What are "life" skills?

These are the skills that are critically important to a child's development, yet often overlooked. They are the skills that will allow your child to navigate relationships, tackle hard things, overcome obstacles, deal with "big" emotions, achieve their goals and thrive in an ever-changing world.

Unfortunately, these skills don't come naturally. They need to be developed and nurtured. I like to think of them as "muscles" that only get bigger and stronger with practice and exercise.

Why are these important?

Growing up is really challenging for our kiddos. They face a mountain of obstacles that can hinder normal growth and development. And, spoiler alert....it doesn't get easier in adulthood.

Ready to take on the world

While we can't always change external factors, we can equip our children with the skills and tools necessary to face challenges in healthy, appropriate ways and set them up for a life where they feel joyful, confident and prepared, regardless of the curve balls life throws their way.

What life looks like when a child develops these skills

Improved communication

They express themselves clearly and effectively, leading to better relationships with family, friends, and teachers.

Problem-solving abilities

They tackle challenges with a "can-do" attitude and find creative solutions, fostering resilience and adaptability.

Effective time management

Academic success

They perform better academically and have a more positive attitude toward learning.

Confidence and self-esteem

They have more confidence in their abilities, which boosts their self-esteem, allowing them to face new challenges with enthusiasm.

Emotional intelligence

They manage emotions and understand others' feelings helping them navigate social situations and build emotional resilience.

Increased responsibility

The take ownership of their tasks and obligations without constant supervision or reminders.

Better conflict resolution

They navigate disagreements and disputes in a calm, constructive manner, leading to more harmonious relationships and environments.

Preparedness for the future
